Alagnak Lodge, founded in 1980, the sits a top a bluff overlooking the wild and scenic Alagnak River in the heart of Alaska’s finest wilderness fishing area, the Bristol Bay watershed. Bristol Bay, Alaska, is home to the world’s largest salmon runs, and each summer millions of wild salmon pass our doorstep on the journey upriver to their spawning grounds.
Just five miles upriver from the mouth, our location in tidewater is unsurpassed. Each tide brings another batch of chrome-bright fish, fresh out of the salt water, and full of energy and fight.
This is as good as it gets. Fish for all five species of pacific salmon and trophy rainbow trout in the heart of the Alaskan wilderness, yet have quick and easy access to the lodge whenever you choose to refresh and relax. Spend more of your time fishing and less time getting to and from the best fishing spots.
Your hosts at Alagnak Lodge: Tony Behm, owner at Alagnak Lodge. The Alagnak River has long been renowned as one of the finest sport fishing rivers in Alaska, and is home to strong runs of all five species of pacific salmon, unusual even in Alaska. The five species of salmon each have their own natural schedule, but with plenty of overlap. The Alagnak Lodge is located in the tidal section of the river about 5 miles inland from the mouth. We are about 25 miles north of the town of King Salmon, Alaska, and about 300 miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska.
Flyfishing experience in Alagnak River: This is from the National Park Service: ”Unbounded by dams or artificial channels, the Alagnak River meanders its way from headwaters in the Aleutian Range across the Alaska Peninsula to Bristol Bay and the Bering Sea. The upper 69 miles of river are designated a national wild river, meaning free flow, no dams, and little human impact. From the time of the earliest Alaskans, the river has given much to those willing to learn its ways. In summer, the river teems with salmon. Fall brings migrating caribou and berries. It traverses the beautiful Alaska Peninsula, providing opportunities to experience the unique wilderness, wildlife and cultural heritage of the area. This river is one of the most popular sport fishing destinations in all of Alaska. Click here for quick country guide.
