About

Your host at Alaska Trophy Adventures Lodge: Wayne and Sue McGee, host and owner. Alaska Trophy Adventures Lodge is a family owned and operated business, dedicated to making your stay one that you will remember and cherish the rest of your life. During your stay you will be hosted by Wayne and Sue McGee. They are lifelong adventurers with a passion for service and the great outdoors. At the age of 19 Wayne left his home in Chicago to explore the “Heart of Africa” where he worked deep in the jungles of Congo (Zaire at the time). His wife Sue, from New Jersey, followed him to Africa from university where they met. They eloped in Kenya and have led a life adventure ever since, raising their family not only in the equatorial rainforests of the Congo, but also the deserts of Mali, and then on to the concrete jungles of London where they have lived the past 18 years. Wayne has always had a passion for “wild places” his whole life, and has had the opportunity to fish across the globe. Sue, equally has a passion for people and service. She is one of the friendliest and most welcoming hostess’ you will ever meet! Wayne and Sue have four children, Tyler, Jacob, Megan and Cameron. You may meet some of them during your stay at ATAL.

Fly-fishing experience at Alaska Trophy Adventures Lodge: If fly-fishing were considered a religion, then Alaska would be its High Church. Fly-Fishing in Alaska is more than just a sport or passion - it’s a way of life. Once you have been bitten by the bug, you’re “hooked”. Fly-fisherman have the unique excuse to visit some of the most remote and stunningly beautiful locations on the planet. South-West Alaska is the High Church of fly-fishing. Whether it be the sensation of a 35+lbs King Salmon pushing a double handed rod to its limits, or seeing a 26-inch rainbow trout rise to crush a mouse pattern tied the previous evening, or just the feeling that no one has ever fished these beautiful waters before; it has to be said that fishing in Alaska is something very special. It brings us back to the reason we started fishing in the first place when we were children. For the fun of it, for the thrill of a tight line, and the sound of a reel's drag screaming. It's for the laughter when your friend loses that fish of a lifetime, because in the heat of the moment he forgot to let go of the reel as "the one that got away” took its final run downstream.
