About

Your host at Alaska's Enchanted Lake Lodge: Team, Alaska's Enchanted Lake Lodge. Enchanted Lake Lodge sits on a stunning, privately owned 54-acre bluff parcel overlooking Nonvianuk Lake within Katmai National Park. The surrounding area provides anglers with some of the most prolific trophy rainbow trout fishing in the world. With short flights to the renowned fishing grounds of Katmai Park, including Big and Little Ku, Brooks, Moraine, Kulik, American, Battle and Funnel Creeks, anglers maximize fishing time and often reach the water before more distant lodges. Over its 53 years of catering to discerning anglers, Enchanted Lake Lodge has gained the reputation as the most deluxe and luxurious fly out lodge in the state. No detail is overlooked as guests are treated to fantastic accommodations, gourmet meals, two well-kept DeHavilland Beaver float planes, well-appointed jet boats and seasoned guides that intimately know their world-class fisheries. Catering to only 12 guests per week, Enchanted Lake Lodge provides what serious rainbow fishermen consider Alaska’s ultimate all-inclusive fly out experience.

Fly-fishing experience at Alaska's Enchanted Lake Lodge: Located in the heart of Katmai National Park’s Bristol Bay, Enchanted Lake Lodge is one of the region's premier fishing destinations. The lodge is strategically-located just minutes from many of Alaska’s most productive fisheries, so unlike many other lodges, flight times here are kept to a minimum, allowing more time to be spent fishing the world famous streams for which the state is known. There is plenty of opportunity to fish the prolific populations of trophy rainbow, arctic char, Dolly Varden and grayling. Though Enchanted Lake Lodge prides itself on being a “rainbow focused” destination, there are also all five species of Pacific Salmon available throughout the season. During your stay, your fishing preferences (as well as that day's fishing conditions) are taken into account as we plan your itinerary. Some of your river options include the Brooks, Kulik, Battle, Big and Little Ku, American, Kvichak, Moraine, Funnel and many more. Having one of the most solid and well versed group of guides, a day with one of these experts will not disappoint even the most seasoned of anglers. With the use of planes, jet boats and rafts, you are sure to have access to best the region has to offer. Click here for quick link country guide.

A typical fly-fishing day at Alaska's Enchanted Lake Lodge: With schedules set the previous evening everyone knows where they are going, what they need to bring and who they will be fishing with. We will awaken you each morning with a hot pot of coffee on your cabin doorstep before serving a hearty breakfast and fresh-made pastries in the main lodge. After breakfast you will have half an hour to get your waders and gear on. At the dock you will meet your guide for the day who will load your gear onto one of our immaculately-maintained DeHavilland Beaver floatplanes. Since we are so centrally located, the flights are usually only 5-20 minutes long, putting us on the rivers quickly. Our planes and pilots are the best in the business making the scenic flights fun, safe and a highlight for many guests. Depending on the river and conditions, we access fishing in one of three ways (once arriving by floatplane). We hike many of the smaller streams trying different runs and holes throughout the day. We are able to reach fantastic fishing with short, easy walks or with longer, adventurous hikes for those looking to explore new water.
On some of the mid-sized rivers we take small rafts which allow us to float long sections of river. A scenic float trip with a pick-up 3-6 miles downstream will allow you to cover lots of water while still getting out to wade the best spots. At the largest rivers we leave jet boats stored for quick, easy access. Whether fishing out of the boat or using it for transportation from hole to hole before wade fishing, these rivers are usually good bets to find rainbow trout of unbelievable proportions. The approximately 8 hour day offers a break of a picnic lunch, hot soup and coffee along the river's edge. Returning to the lodge, you are presented at the dock with our traditional brandy before heading to your cabin or the sauna. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres precede dinner, giving you an opportunity to speak with your guide and discuss gear and other questions. After dinner enjoy the beautiful views through the picture windows, the fresh air outside on one of the decks, or a quiet evening in your cabin anticipating the next day.
