At Blitz Bound Guide Service, we have one goal in mind; fun, quality days on the water. Our fishing grounds, the Sandy Hook area of New Jersey and Long Island's East End, offer the eager angler endless opportunities. Whether you are a first time fly fisher, a light-tackle expert or an 'old salt', we will present you with a rewarding fishing experience.
Our season starts in mid-April with the arrival of the Striped Bass. The fishing really heats up in May and June as the Bluefish and Weakfish arrive, along with a good number of big bass chasing schools of bunker. This time of the year can offer you a legitimate shot at a trophy fish, especially when the big bunker are around. The fishing at this time of year is as diverse as the the species we pursue. A typical day in the spring may include throwing 12 inch flies into bunker schools for big bass, rip fishing and structure/shoreline drifting.
The summer brings big blues on the morning tides and weakfish in the evenings. A special treat for the saltwater fly fisherman is the cinder worm swarm which usually takes place during Full and New Moon cycles, June through August. This is a special occurrence and can make for a trip of a lifetime.
Although fishing in the Spring and Summer is productive and rewarding, nothing compares to the legendary 'Fall Run'. Starting in September, we move our operation to Montauk and The North Fork on the East End of Long Island to intercept the migrating Stripers, Blues, and our favorite, the fast-running False Albacore. This unbelievable 'blitz' fishing takes place through November — it has to be seen to be believed!
