About

Your host at Katmai Lodge: Robert Follman, Owner. The Katmai Lodge is the original riverfront lodge on the Alagnak River. Their long history here makes them experts fishermen and master of the river. The lodge offers a rustic charm with a modern twist. There are hot showers, comfortable beds, and a relaxing atmosphere at the lodge. Katmai Lodge’s central location on the Alagnak River provides our guests with speedy access to Alaska’s best tidewater and freshwater fishing for salmon and trout.  The guides at Katmai Lodge target fresh, strong salmon in their prime. We do not and will not target spawning or near spawning fish.

Fly-fishing experience at Katmai Lodge: From those just learning to fish to advanced anglers, there is no place more enjoyable and productive to fish than a boat ride through hundreds of miles of fishable water outside our lodge, or a flyout to tributaries which feed the Alagnak. Our guests can fish from the boat and gravel bars, or wade- whichever choice the conditions call for. All five species of Pacific Salmon run in the Alagnak. The Alagnak is a spey fisherman’s paradise. Wide areas for wading and casting make it the perfect river for landing those salmon on the fly with your double hander! Many of our guides are proficient at spey casting and enjoy helping teach the technique. Click here for quick link country guide.
