The river Blackwater has been noted for a good run of salmon over the years, traditionally with spring fish arriving in February/March, and a late run of autumn salmon in August/September. There is also an excellent brown trout population in the Longueville stretch, making for fantastic sport throughout the fishing season.
The season opens at Longueville House on 1st February and it closes on 30th September annually. We offer one and a half miles of private fishing beats on the Blackwater River adjoining the estate, approx. 45 miles upstream from the river estuary at Cappoquin.
Falconry has fascinated people for thousands of years and you too can have the unique chance to experience the thrill of flying a Hawk through the grounds of Longueville House, see a Falcon swooping across the skies and experience the wonder and grace of an Owl gliding towards your gloved hand.
For a 90-minute Falconry Experience and Hawk Walk, we begin with an interactive ‘meet the Birds’ session, where you will get to hold and photograph several species of Hawks, Falcons, and Owls. You will then have the opportunity of free flying some of these facinating birds of prey.
You will then take a leisurely walk through the trees accompanied by two Harris Hawks, who will follow along. Then you will be given a glove and some clear instructions so you then become the falconer - flying the Hawks!
These 90 minutes will be unlike anything you have ever experienced before, and will make lifetime memories for you, so don’t forget to bring your camera as there will be lots of incredible photo opportunities.
