The owner says

Kodiak Island, Alaska, is famous for huge Kodiak brown bears, world-class sport fishing, and the magnificent green that the island turns during the Summer--which is why Kodiak is sometimes called Alaska's Emerald Isle.

The Island of Kodiak is the second largest island in the United States, approximately 250 air miles southwest of Anchorage in the Gulf of Alaska. South Kodiak Adventures, LLC is located in the Village of Akhiok, on the Southern coast of Kodiak Island. See a map of Kodiak Island and where we're located.

South Kodiak Adventures offers high quality fishing and wildlife viewing adventures at a very reasonable price.
Our sport fishing packages include fishing for giant halibut, ling cod, and/or fishing for one or more of the five species of salmon abundant in the waters of Kodiak. Silver, king, and red salmon are everyone's favorite with either fly rod or spin fishing rod. Steelhead and other species are also available.
Kodiak Island offers unique beauty and wilderness blended perfectly to inspire every visitor. Our specialty is Kodiak brown bear viewing. Even long time residents are continually amazed at the Alaskan wildlife and spectacular nature that Kodiak has to offer. Our surrounding crystal waters, pristine wilderness and endless sky provide you unequalled exposure to mother nature and Alaska's unique wildlife.

About

Your host at South Kodiak Adventures: Gary Rozelle Sr. , Owner. My family and staff welcome you to South Kodiak Adventures. My name is Gary Rozelle, Sr., and I am a lifelong resident of Kodiak Island. I was raised in the Village of Akhiok and have spent most of my life living there. Our family operation is assisted by equally knowledgable local Alaskans who have many years experience in the outdoors. I was brought up in an outdoors environment of hunting, hiking, and sport fishing along with other wilderness activities. As I was growing up my favorite things were deer hunting, duck hunting, sport fishing and just being outdoors. I have over 35 years of experience fishing all the lakes, rivers and bays on the South end of Kodiak Island where our operation is located and feel that I know this area better than anyone else. I also hold a Coast Guard 100 ton license.

Hunting and fishing experience at South Kodiak Adventures: Our operating season is scheduled to begin on the 1st Saturday in September, with hunts starting each Saturday thereafter through December 12th. Hunts begin in the village of Akhiok on the Southerrn tip of Kodiak Island on Saturday mornings with your flight arriving from Anchorage, via City of Kodiak. After storing your gear at our lodging facilities in Akhiok, we'll take you for a familiarization tour of some of the hunt area aboard our 33 foot high speed and licensed vessel, the "Alaska Adventure". This boat can cruise at 30+ knots, is equipped with 110v power, stereo, state of the art electronics, diesel furnace, and many other features added to make your hunt more enjoyable. Real hunting begins the next morning. The area offers a wide variety of hunting options from beach hunting to hiking into mountain saddles to stand hunting with a rifle or a bow (or hand gun). The island supports over 100,000 deer and having lived in the Village our entire lives, we know where to find them. Days start off with a hearty breakfast, then boat transportation to that day's chosen location. Hunters are usually dropped off in pairs with each pair given a hand held radio for safety or early pick up. We pack a hearty lunch for each hunter to take with him each day. After pick up by the boat at the end of the day, our hunters can look forward to a hot dinner back in Akhiok that may include New York Steak, marinated pork tenderloin, Baked Ham, and of course, Venison and Salmon! Our fishing season starts May 15th of each year and runs into September. Although our standard fishing trip is 7 days and 7 nights, other lengths can be arranged depending on scheduling. Just give us a call. We fish the Southern part of Kodiak including Olga Bay and Deadman's Bay. Available species include halibut, king salmon, sockeye salmon, silver salmon, chum salmon, humpy salmon, rainbow trout, dolly varden, and steelhead. The silver salmon or coho is thought by many to be the most outstanding fighter of the salmon species, although sockeyes or reds are a close second. These super-charged silver salmon explode out of the water and make reel-screaming runs up and down the stream. When caught in salt water they often strip all the line on the spool. We have access to dozens of silver and red salmon streams, bays and coves. We cater to both fly fishermen and spin fishermen with references  available upon request.
