About

Your host at Ardale Deer Stalking: Sam Thompson, Owner. Sam Thompson has been fascinated with the uplands and forests since childhood, and starting working in land management at the age of 16, before studying Forestry, Land Management and Sustainable Deer Management to Msc level. Sam started Ardale Deer Management in 2016, having previously worked as a deer stalker on a private estate and with a number of estates around Scotland as part of Wildlife Estates Scotland.

Hunting and shooting experience at Ardale Deer Stalking: Deer stalking is our speciality, and we are lucky to manage Red, Sika and Roe deer on some fantastic estates in the Highlands. Deer stalking focuses on selecting and culling an animal conforming with the individual estates cull plan and deer management policy, and therefore ageing or genetically poor animals are normally selected. Scotland is famous for its great variety of game and nothing exemplifies this as much as the vast variety of wild bird species available. We specialise in small shooting days, usually “over dogs” in the traditional way with pointing breeds or spaniels, and this makes for challenging hunting in greatly varied terrain. We have shooting available in Aberdeenshire, Moray and Inverness-shire. Click here for quick country guide.
