The owner says

Hawnby Shoot
With spectacular topography, scenic views and steep, wooded valleys, the Hawnby and Arden estate in the North York Moors has long been regarded as one of the finest pheasant shoots in the country and is regularly included in The Field magazines Top 50 shoots.

Hawnby Estate specialises mainly in pheasant, but also has a 6,000-acre grouse moor. The large estate has the most beautiful open views with natural deciduous woodland cover rather than game crops.

With around 30 drives to choose from on the historic estate, there is something to suit everyone.

Located in Helmsley in the North York Moors Hawnby Shoot covers 15,000 acres and is
managed by head game keepers: Mike Wilkinson (grouse) and David Wharton (pheasant)

Days are sometimes available; please do contact us and we will be happy to help.
There is also fishing on the rivers Rye and Seph and productive grouse shooting on the higher moors, whilst Methley estate remains a refuge of wild English partridge.

Good drives, with very high birds. Deep valleys. We all slept in the pub which was good fun. The min point was that in the evening we were missing a host. We prefer to go to shooting estates where ... Read more

This particular valley makes stunning shooting. High and well presented pheasants. One small minus, is that you have to drive a long way from drive to drive. On the other hand, the distance between... Read more

One particular drive sticks in mind: when the birds do not fly across but along the valley where the guns are lined out. Number 1 until No 7 miss the highest birds only to be shot by peg no 8: what... Read more
