Arctic Angling

Hafnarbraut 2, Iceland
Brown trout, Salmon, Arctic char, Trout

Arctic Angling offers brown trout and arctic char fishing tours with an experienced fishing guide on lakes, creeks and rivers of the peninsula Melrakkaslétta and the peninsula Langanes in the far northeast of Iceland. These are areas, somewhat off the beaten track, seldom visited by tourists in Iceland.

Melrakkaslétta has a natural stock of brown trout and arctic char. Most fish are 1-3 pounds, and some bigger. The lakes have creeks and small rivers between them and finally a river running to the sea. Sometimes sea-run fish go all the way up to the lakes.
On the Langanes peninsula we fish for sea-run arctic char, sea trout and brown trout. The fish are mostly 1-4 pounds and some up to 7 pounds.
On the way to the airport for the flight to Reykjavík, we will stop at lake Skjálftavatn and the river Litlaá. There are double figure fish in both river and lake. In the summer of 2014 a char of 20 pounds was landed.
If you want to add salmon fishing to your adventure we could book some days on the river Mýrakvísl close by to Húsavík or on our local salmon river Deildará.
We are solely fly-fishing and we stick to the method of catch and release.

Pétur Magnússon has been flyfishing for trout in Iceland for 25 years. He is a certified guide and passenger driver who speaks English, Dutch and some German.

Ásdís Thoroddsen has been working as a guide in Iceland for 20 years. She speaks English, German, Swedish and French
