The Dalhousie Estates have been in the ownership of the Earls of Dalhousie for almost 250 years and at one time extended to around 150,000 acres in the Counties of Angus and Midlothian. The present Estates at Brechin Castle, Edzell and Invermark, all in Angus, cover some 55,000 acres ranging from the fertile agricultural land in the vale of Strathmore to the heather moorland and mountains of Invermark where the hills rise to 3,000 feet at Mount Keen, Scotland’s most easterly “Munro”.

As well as being the family home of the 17th Earl, Dalhousie Estates is a family business providing employment for over 70 staff, many of whom live on the Estate; also supporting many local businesses and suppliers. The wide range of business activities includes the traditional land uses associated with many rural estate enterprises – farming, forestry, property letting, shooting, fishing and deer stalking.
In addition, in recent years a number of new enterprises have been developed. In particular a garden centre, restaurant and visitor attraction has been established on a 65 acre site at Brechin Castle Garden Centre; also an associated business, Brechin Castle Livery, and allotments for the residents of Brechin.
