From it’s creation in 1826 to the present day, the Glanusk Estate has been renowned for it’s country sports, and at the forefront of these past times has been the shooting.
The Legge-Bourke family has passed the shoot to Mark Coleman who has taken it to another level, and has now included the 3rd Beat, ‘Foxhall’ into the main shoot. This creates two beats where birds are released about 1,000 feet. Best known drives include Tan y Lan, Quarry, Cwm Mawr and Peroni. An amazing sight to behold for any gun waiting on their peg.
Guns now enjoy all of Mark’s hospitality in the family Rod Room at Penmyarth House, the main house on the estate. Having been completely renovated and refurbished by Mark, this stylish and warm room, (which it did not used to be!!) is littered with pictures and old game cards reliving sporting memories over the past 180 years.
Should you wish to have a back to back day, Mark also runs the shoot at Stoke Edith on the Herefordshire borders, a mere 35 minutes away from Glanusk, and both shoot bags range from 250 upwards at very affordable rates.
