Good drives, with very high birds. Deep valleys. We all slept in the pub which was good fun. The min point was that in the evening we were missing a host. We prefer to go to shooting estates where there is the possibility to stay overnight and host by the owners.

This particular valley makes stunning shooting. High and well presented pheasants. One small minus, is that you have to drive a long way from drive to drive. On the other hand, the distance between the drives is what enables a long-lasting drive as well. The Inn at Hawnby is superb to stay at.

One particular drive sticks in mind: when the birds do not fly across but along the valley where the guns are lined out. Number 1 until No 7 miss the highest birds only to be shot by peg no 8: what a spectacle!.\n\nHawbny has a good variety of very high drives, also drives where you can get your eye in and hit the birds.\n\nWe stayed at the Hawnby Inn which as good as ever with Dave as our great host

Wehen we go out with our group, we believe it is important that there is a formal host/representative from the estate present. Our host was clearly busy and in and out. An important part of a day is how well you are looked after. This could be improved at Hanby.\n\nOtherwise the birds were at good heights, but as you can expect in January, not so many.
