Las Pampas Lodge

Patagonia, Argentina
Brown trout, Brook trout, Rainbow trout, Trout

The Rio Pico area boasts first class fly fishing on a vast variety of waters. Medium and small freestone rivers; amazing, reed lined, small lakes; and spring creeks of various sizes. This array of waters makes it possible for an angler to fish several different types of water or to concentrate more days on the type they prefer.

In other words… customize to your tastes! We primarily fish dries throughout the season; yet, when conditions dictate, streamers, nymphs and other approaches are used. Wild Brown, Rainbow and Brook trout populate the waters and take well placed flies with reckless abandon. While the fish average in the 15" to 20" inch range, many larger fish (21" to 29") come to the net each week and some of these larger fish are in the five to ten pound range. Some of our private waters can produce several of these larger fish on a daily basis for each angler.

The outstanding fishing you will find in these waters will provide the cornerstone in completing your ‘love affair’ with this remote and enchanting region of Patagonia. It is a fact that many of our clients return year after year to once again "Escape FromThe Ordinary"!

The European style lodge features four large double bedrooms with private baths (and the best showers in all of Patagonia.) Every bedroom opens onto a covered porch with an incredible view of Cerro Desnudo, a beautiful peak and part of the Andes Mountain Range. The inviting main room with its central fireplace is where you will enjoy your free time. Here is where guests gather each evening for cocktails and "picadas" to share the day’s adventures before dinner.

The combination of log and stone architecture is reminiscent of a "main house" on a Patagonian estancia. The entire lodge is tastefully furnished and accented with antique tools/artifacts of the region. The accommodations combined with our excellent, English speaking staff, gourmet meals (featuring locally grown, organic vegetables and prime cuts of beef) and the best red wines of Argentina make for an unforgettable visit. You can, no doubt, tell we are proud to have one of the best facilities in South America.
