Maesmawr Hall

Guilsfield, United Kingdom
Pheasant

You could be forgiven for imagining yourself sipping first growth claret at a Chateaux in Bordeaux, were it not for the deceptively high pheasants exploding from the ancient oak woodland!
Maesmawr Hall is situated in a beautiful location with a splendid backdrop to a classic shoot steeped in history. Formerly laid out as 19th century hunting estate – this shoot has gradually evolved into a wonderful pheasant shoot.
Forest lodge is arguably one of the most beautiful drives in our entire portfolio and it is easy to see why the combination of tall pheasants, convivial hospitality and beautiful surroundings keeps guns coming back for more.

A well organized shoot with ample high birds coming over in a steady stream. Nice variety of drives. Very attentive and kind staff and an offering of delicious elevenses and lunches.

We had a very nice day at Kempton. Three out of four drives were very nice with good quality birds. I was very well organised and the day went very smooth!

We had strong winds which meant some the pegs were moved during the drives: a credit to the organisation. Some drives were a bit lighter for birds then others, but considering it was January we had noting to complain about. The scenery was stunning and the food was served in a nice farmhouse with very friendly staff. To be recommended.

Although we had gales and "horizontal" rain, the day's shooting at Gregynog was memorable. One of the drives over the main valley next to the house will stick in our minds of one to the best ever. The birds kept coming and coming over the guns in large numbers, all over the line, and at extremely challenging heights. Another drive along stream and in a gully, enabled spectacular snap shooting. The birds went over all the guns along the gully, weaving and curling. I would recommend Gregynog to everyone.
