South Chesthill Estate offers two comfortable and completely private properties available as holiday lets all year round, with or without fishing/stalking included. The estate has roughly six miles of river and 7,000 acres to explore. For a Highland Estate it is easily accessible, being less than 2 hours drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow. It is situated at the eastern end of Glenlyon which has been described as:
‘Scotland’s most beautiful glen‘ – Trout and Salmon magazine 2014
‘…the longest, loneliest and loveliest glen in Scotland…’ – Sir Walter Scott
Stalking is available for one or two rifles depending on the time of year, over 6,500 acres of steep and varied ground. Approximately 50 stags and 80 hinds are taken each season between September and February. We provide a stalker, rifle and ammunition, a vehicle for accessing the hill, and an Argocat. Have a look at the Blog for the latest stalking news on the estate. For information on foreign visitors rifle permits, please look at the Police Scotland website.
South Chesthill has a limited stock of grouse on the hill, which provides August tenants with one walked up day.
Challenging “birds” (fired from a steep hill up the glen) can be tailored to suit your experience and ability. Clays, a gun, and cartridges provided if required. Some experience and own gun preferred. £40 per box of 150 clays, cartridges charged at cost.
